Genital warts are fleshy growths that develop around the genitals or anus.
They are one of the most commonly transmitted STI(sexual transmitted disease).
Symptoms:
Rough skin growth, they have a bumpy look, while some are flat, they aren't really painful, but sometimes causes
* Burning sensation
* Genital itching or irritation
* Mild bleeding
* Discomfort
There's need to see a physician, when you suspect you have genital warts
Can it be treated:
Well, it's stays and goes on its own, or doesn't.
If the growth becomes too uncomfortable, it can be surgically removed, but the virus doesn't go away, and has no cure, so it's advisable;
* You see a physician immediately, and get diagnosed
* Start taking treatments and possibly the HPV vaccine available for diminishing it's effects.
* Inform your spouse or sexual partners, to go for testing and treatment.
How it spreads
* Through sexual intercourse
* Receiving oral sex from someone who has been infected
* Genital touching ( skin to skin contact, even without penetration)
Areas affected in the body
* Vagina ( internally and externally)
* Groin ( btw the stomach and thigh)
* Anus ( internally and externally)
* Penis and scrotum
* Lips, mouth, tongue and throat
Prevention:
* Abstinence
* Maintain one sexual partner
* Use a condom
* Get routine treatment and any testing for STIs
* Get the HPV vaccine
Note:
The HPV ( human papilloma virus ) is a common STI and can be the major cause of genital warts, while it doesn't have a cure, it's necessary one takes the vaccine for protection for both infected and non infected persons.
Genital warts is a product of HPV , and there are other types of HPV, so it's possible you have the virus and yet no symptoms, so keep to your treatment if you've been diagnosed, and for those who are safe, take the preventive measures.
